Personally, I don’t see what the problem is. If I had the money, I’d buy bid for it. For sex? No. I’m married, thanks. If I buy her virginity, it’s strictly an investment. If I own it, it has value to me and I get to say if/when she can have her first sex. If I don’t approve of her first paramour, then no sex for her — for life, if I so choose. If she has sex behind my back, so to speak, then she’s destroyed the value she sold to me and I could theoretically sue for damages.

I wonder how much my investment would be worth after 10 years? How much would she pay me to get it back?

Be careful what you wish for.

I’d like to refrain from comments about how good of a candidate or mother Sarah Palin is — traveling from texas to the Alaskan boondocks, passing several major hospitals on the way, to deliver her premature child 22 hours after her water broke, not to mention her abstinence only (no contraceptives — or facts) policy leading to her own daughter becoming pregnant (at least once) at age 17, notwithstanding.

But this video speaks volumes about McCain, the man, the legend, the myth, who prior to selecting Palin, had only met her once.

[In all fairness, this seems to have at most 3 video segments of glancing that were repeated and/or came from different angles to make a much funnier video.]

If you remember Blazing Saddles, you probably know what I’m about to say. The McCain camp tried to inoculate itself against charges of racism this week by, what else, charging that Obama was playing the race card. It’s a trick as old as BushCo — take your weakness and call it the weakness of the other guy — and the media fall for it every time.

Only, in this case, it’s not an inherent immutable weakness of McCain, like cowardice is for Bush, but a conscious and cynical choice by McCain and his staff to sucker punch Obama and then cry “he started it.” [I don't think I'm exaggerating the maturity level of the McCain campaign one bit.]

However, all that happened was exactly what Obama predicted some weeks back. McCain put out these ads intermixing Obama and celebrity “white women,” echoing the effective but undeniably racist ads against Harold Ford from last cycle.

The gist of all of these ads is to put fear into the minds of certain ignorant white voters that Obama is one of those uppity black men who’s out to steal (or at least have lots of sex with) the white women. Where dey at?

So let’s see who’s playing the race card:

The guy why predicts that the other side will use racist imagery.

Or, the side that intentionally uses racist imagery.

Yes, let’s let America decide, Mr. McCain. Your only hope is that people are dumb.

But I ask you this: what is the point of winning the Presidency if you lose your soul in the process? You’ve aready got all the money you’d ever want. You can’t remember if your shoes are tied. So why not just retire with some shred of self-respect and go home?

Update:

Some people on the internets seem to be confused as to what racism is. Some people think racism doesn’t affect Mexicans, for example, because they’re not black. And others confuse it with bigotry. So since I was lucky enough to study this in college, here’s the handy definitions:

Bigotry is a combination of ignorance and hatred for others because they are different. Thinking Jews have horns is bigotry. Thinking African-Americans like watermelon is bigotry.

Racism is the application of power (verbal/social, political, economic) by one oppressing group against another, typically using bigotry as a tool against a population that can be easily identified and separated from the oppressing group.

There is in fact no such thing as “race” in human genetics, and therefore racism is not limited to black-skinned individuals. Any group that can be singled out as “different” can be the victim of racism if that groups is treated as a separate “race” and made to feel inferior in so many ways. In fact, in the case of the Hootoo and Tutsi in the Rwandan genocide, there was not even an ethnic or religious difference between the two groups. It was completely arbitrary, but was passed down from parent to child by family lines, such that a child would be killed simply because of who its parents and grandparents were.

Video from the non-impeachment hearing is up on you-tube and it’s very good, if a little sad knowing that for all the legal and ethical intelligence being shown, nothing will come of this.

It’s not that there isn’t time. It’s that Democrats feel it would hurt their chances in November, since Bush is at an all-time low anyway and they don’t want to mobilize the GOP base to defend itself. Republicans, of course, are complete hypocrites, impeaching Clinton for lying about a blow job while ignoring what is likely mass manslaughter, if not murder, many large-scale violations of the constitution, and clear war crimes.

Part of me was hoping we’d wind up in San Francisco by September just so I could vote out Nancy Pelosi for betraying her oath of office. It’s amazing that someone can be so smart but yet so ignorant in the grand scheme of things. Because the bottom line is that Democrats may serve themselves this November, but if they don’t stand up for the Rule of Law and against BushCo crimes, we won’t have much of a country left to help with better healthcare, etc..

We’re living in times that could see the US experiment literally end in a fistful of fascism, when a Bush-like President comes along and does everything BushCo did, but with the intent of never letting go.

In a “strongly worded” press release, the chairman of the House committee most responsible for impeaching (or not) the President and Vice has finally agreed to hold public hearings, starting later this month. It’s not about impeachment per se, but on credible allegations of serious misconduct or something.

You think? The allegations are even more credible given the fact that they’ve been admitted by the perpetrators on national TV, who then thumb their noses at your “strongly worded” letters and impotent threats.

Here’s the quote:

“Over the last seven plus years, there have been numerous credible allegations of serious misconduct by officials in the Bush Administration,” Conyers said in a news release. “At the same time, the administration has adopted what many would describe as a radical view of its own powers and authorities. As Chairman of the Judiciary Committee, I believe it is imperative that we pursue a comprehensive review commensurate to this constitutionally dangerous combination of circumstances. Next Friday’s hearings will be an important part of that ongoing effort.”

I applaud Congress’ effort to finally seriously consider doing its job in time for the next ice age. However, what kind of “comprehensive review” would be “commensurate” with this administrations crimes?

Will Congress let 3000 civilians enter a room with a known ax-wielding mass murderer and claim to not have seen the memo about their impending death?

Will Congress send 150,000 troops to invade the Senate on grounds that Trent Lott is a weapon of mass deception, only to find him actually smoking a doobie (which is still a heinous crime, so we’re cool, right?)?

Will Congress randomly incarcerate, wiretap, and/or torture people to discover once and for all if Bush randomly wiretapped, incarcerated and/or tortured them?

If you thought the S&L crisis was nasty, it was actually just a test of a much larger scheme, the biggest organized <strike>transfer of wealth</strike>theft in the history of mankind. It was organized, not in the sense of a traditional criminal conspiracy. It was more like a sheep roundup for the meat market, with owners whispering to corral the stock and loyal dogs following their training without knowing why.

It is all just business, say the farmers to the meat.

Here’s a handy timeline.

The question that had to be answered: how hard would it be to get the United States to privatize and deregulate key industries, milk them for all they were worth for as long as possible, and then stick the American public with stinking corpse of whatever was left?

Not very, it turns out, especially if you can infect both political parties with crooks and liars in high office.

It’s not a new game. But it’s never been done on such a large scale before. Those crooks and liars lead the way, idealistically (read: cynically) protesting how bad government regulation and control can be. Private enterprise can do better, they say. And it does — for its owners. Markets are happy as long as returns go up, and so they fail to provide the independent oversight required to keep capitalism free of those “externalities” (theft, war, avoidable environmental catastrophe) that undermine a sustainable economy.

Private enterprise with a guaranteed bailout always finds an incentive to cheat, hollow out the business until the inevitable shell remains, cut and run. The only thing that can stop that, as with ordinary criminals, are police. Because money is money, and criminals always find a way to get themselves to where the money flows.

Turns out, like Capitalism, Government sucks. But it beats the pants off the alternatives.

And like in the 1930s, people are all in favor of rabid Capitalism when times are good and problems unseen. But when it comes time to pay the piper, watch the Socialism soar.

The government, i.e., you, are now the proud owners of one giant hollow banking system, while the criminals flee the country with their billions.

Maybe this time around, we can say no, not again. Maybe this time we can take back our money, put the crooks in jail, and fix the system once and for all.

Phil Gramm, one of the farmers of the system, was actually right when he said we’re a nation of whiners. We’re content to whine about high gas prices and failing banks and still expect the farmers and sheep dogs to “fix it” for us.

Or how about we change the system?

7. Jessee Jackson, thinking he could dis Obama on Fox News and no one would notice:

6. Carly Fiorina, making the claim that Obama, not McCain, represents Bush’s third term:

5. William Kristol — is this man ever right about anything?

4. Bill O’Reilly - enough said. Really.

3. Brit Hume — is reported to have tied his own laces together on more than one occasion.

2. Glenn Beck — no doubt God got him is big break on radio to serve as an example to us all:

1. Glenn Beck just barely rises above Pastor Hagee in this clip. Hagee is the man who inadvertently declares himself “very much anti-Semitism” just moments after proving there is no such thing as a Christian anti-Semite — because Christians love everyone, unlike those damn Catholics and Protestants. Beck seems genuinely relieved that Obama is not the anti-Christ and so am I.
