Matt Lauer with Bush in his Face

YouTube - Matt Lauer Corners Bush on Torture

Interesting use of body language by Bush. Lauer thankfully stands his ground.

I was reminded of the time I got into a fight with a guy who was beating his dog. It started just like that.

I guess the question I would have liked to ask El Presidente is "If we use a non-torture method and reveal it to the world, how can that possibly help the enemy? Will al Qaeda train to resist waterboarding, for example, by dunking themselves for hours on end till they can’t take it anymore?"

In that case, perhaps we should claim we waterboard. Then, when we capture them, we can really torture them with something else, like telling them "yo mama" jokes until they crack.

But seriously, if we’re not torturing prisoners, as Bush claims, then what’s the harm in stating which techniques we do use? Or at least stating which we don’t? The world can only convict you of war crimes for actual war crimes, no?

As conservatives are so fond of pretending: if you’re innocent, you have nothing to worry about, right?

If so, then why is BushCo pushing to remove restrictions on torture for the CIA? (FoxNews, even)
