Telephone telepathy — I was just thinking about you - Yahoo! News

The study was a bit too small to sway too many minds. But skeptical as I am, I have experienced this very phenomenon way too many times (more than mere synchronicity would explain) to ignore. Synchronicity can explain some of it, because the closer you are to someone, the more frequently you talk to them. And we naturally remember those reinforcing events more than the times where we were surprised.

On the other hand, I had a friend in college, where either of us would pick up the phone to call the other and that person would often already be on the line. One person dialed and the call went through. But before it rang, the other picked up their phone to dial back. Very freaky. One time my friend even dialed me while I was listening, without realizing I was already on the line.

And married people do, indeed, finish each other’s sentences and find the missing words. So, if nothing else, there may be a kind of "mirror" neuron that lets us model people we know and better predict when they’ll call, even when we haven’t seen them in a while.
