I don’t know. If I got into a cab and the driver had no face, that would certainly terrorize me, at least until I got another cab. I suppose I’m a facist.

But as for the impliction that real-life terrorists (presumably with faces, and a koran under their arm) are biding their time, driving taxis by day, waiting to kill us good people at night, it’s pretty clearly a racist sentiment. Republicans are playing the only card they have left: fear. And fear brings the racists out in full force. The slippery slope to concentration camps gets a little slipperier each day.

My grandfather was a taxi driver for a number of years, by the way. It’s one of the few ways an immigrant can support a family, even today. If you think it’s easy, try driving for 8 to 12 hours a day, 6 days a week. As long as my designated driver doesn’t alternately step on the brakes and gas every two seconds, and as long as he doesn’t try to kill me, I usually leave him a pretty good tip. My tip to the opineosphere is that Senator Burns can walk home from here.
