Fait Accomplit
It’s done. After four weeks of planning, we pulled off our wedding without a hitch. One of the reasons it went so well is we kept it to only 32 people: 18 core family members (6 for my father, 3 for my mother, 9 for Sara’s parents and sisters) and 12 of our friends.
It had a very intimate feel, was very personal and real, and very short — about 15 minutes for the actual ceremony, buffered by some very good wine and hors d’oeuvres before and a nice dinner afterwards. For anyone wanting to host a party of under 40 people in NYC, I’d heartily recommend Le Madeleine on 43rd.
The ceremony itself consisted of a customized scifunky remix of John Williams music with a Shatneresque STTOS intro voice over, followed by some endearing speeches and lots of applauding for everyone in the room. Strangely enough, people loved it. I would have loved to have more friends and relatives be able to attend. Some couldn’t come due to work. Others belong to groups of family or social circles which would have easily quadroupled the size of the crowd. But if anyone wants to see the pics or hear the funky soundtrack, you can email me for details.
